Keys to English is an exciting, learner-centred course that has been
specifically developed for the NEW Zimbabwean English Curriculum. The
course covers all three phases of the curriculum and provides a solid
foundation for the development of English language skills in everyday
life. This not only encourages a life-long enjoyment of the language,
and a reading culture; it also prepares learners to be active and
successful citizens in the workplace, once they leave school.
Keys to English Grade 1 builds on the basic English language skills
developed in the Early Childhood Development Keys to English books. It
aims to enable pupils to develop basic language skills, to communicate
effectively in different situations, to think critically and to acquire a
strong sense of personal, cultural and national identity. It also
prepares pupils to use English in studying other learning areas across
the curriculum.
